The fourth annual Community Gardens Day on June 18 was Philadelphia’s biggest one yet — close to 60 gardens, 5 tours, fun activities and great sponsors and partners. At the kick-off event Los Bomberos De la Calle got everyone moving. The incredible lineup of speakers, including Councilwoman Maria Quiñones-Sanchez, NGT Executive Director Jenny Greenberg perfectly framed the accomplishments and challenges of preserving gardens in Philadelphia today. And food from Franny Lou’s porch gave everyone energy for the big day. From workshops, to BBQ’s, to workdays, tours, finger painting, yoga and much more– thank you for participating in another successful Community Gardens Day!
